The perfect neighborhood restaurant

We made a serendipitous discovery when we discovered L’Encrier Scop. We were actually supposed to dine at another place but we could not be accommodated there. Luckily for us, I had hurriedly scribbled down the address of L’Encrier, just in case. Tucked away along the quiet rue Traversière, it is not far from the Place D’Aligre. In fact, L’Encrier is the perfect neighborhood restaurant. We were graciously welcomed without fuss that we had no reservations on a busy Friday evening. Even better was the meal we had. It was superb.
Diners are proposed several menus around the house specialities. The menu features a hearty selection notably of foie gras fait a la maison and steaks mouth wateringly grilled or pan fried. To start with, I had a wonderful salad of pears and blue cheese that was just melt in the mouth perfect. The pear's sweetness counterbalanced beautifully the tart taste of the blue cheese. A bite of the selection of home made foie gras was likewise pretty special. For the main course, I chose the steak with girolle sauce. I found it grilled well enough not to have any more blood (very important for us who have less appreciation of less well done meat) while at the same time retaining the tenderness of the meat. I found the girolle sauce to go really well with it; the velvety mushrooms complementing the hearty taste of the meat. To be sure the restaurant serves dessert but this will have to be a pleasure reserved for another time.
